My Sista, Thank you so much for following your gut instinct, and the nudging of the ancestors imploring you to speak on their, and in turn, our collective behalf. It is mind-blowing that any person of African descent could sit quietly in ignorance, or even the self-enhanced shame of , 'job having' glory allowing such blatant disrespect to happen. If we are to reclaim our communities which demand that we not only do better, but do it post-haste, we must speak out and not sit quietly when such maddening situations present. When presented with the ongoing opportunities to show that we are a team player, and office politics, we have to think enough of ourselves to address fuckery, and immediately ...STOP it. I raise my fist in solidarity to each action that goes on record stating clearly, that "this is unacceptable, and won't be tolerated." Thank you. ~Imani Wms

I'm a amateur blogger, too! Posting on Broadside is my first step beyond Facebook. I don't know that I have tips, per se. I'm truly figuring it out as I go and remembering clues from my academic, creative and marketing writing styles. A style I like to call inter-literal, like being inter-racial.

My first five tips…

1. Be proud of your writing Voice and style. Be as quirky, inter-literal, spiritual, academic, hip or Dr. Seussy as you'd like to be. It's your digital journal. Do you!

2. Own your Voice and writing style and perfect it by practicing it.

3. Read more about the genres that inspire you.

4. Learn more about the craft and history of writing.

5. Play with your words.

An OMWM page is forthcoming and I'll share with you as I go.

Dear Broadside Press

This website is beautiful, aesthetically arresting, other worldly as it draws the reader in. Thank you for this phenomenal work! I was actually looking for the Idlewild book under new releases. How can I order it?

Habari Gani, Good Afternoon, Happy Holidays!

Thank you for contacting Broadside Press. At this time, we are not accepting manuscripts for publication. All of our original publications were in broadside and chapbook form. All manuscripts received are submitted to our Board of Directors for review and approval. However, due to other projects we are working on, we are not accepting manuscripts.

Please follow us at our Facebook page and this blog. If we have a call for submissions in the future, it will be posted on these sites.

Sincerely,
Aurora Harris, Secretary

I was wondering if you had a short article on Broadside Press that you could send me for inclusion in my wiki, Penny's Poetry Pages. My reason for asking is that many of the poets I've published, from Dudley Randall to Alice and Margaret Walker, have published with Broadside, and readers and students would benefit from knowing about the company.

Please note that, by the terms of the host, Wikia, publication on my cite is equivalent to licensing an article under Creative Commons, meaning that anyone is free to reprint the article provided they give appropriate credit. The same applies to photographs published on the site. With that proviso in mind, I would ask for any article(s) that you can send, as well as any photograph(s) that you think appropriate. Thank you for your consideration of this.
