Publisher’s Statement

  1. I am interested in submitting material to be published. As a black poet, my writings are of a Black Aesthetic deeply rooted in the plight and perspective of the black community and family of the 21st century. As some one who is interested in being published, what are your requirements for a first publication and do you support chapbooks?

Thank you for contacting Broadside Press. At this time, we are not accepting manuscripts for publication. All of our original publications were in broadside and chapbook form. All manuscripts received are submitted to our Board of Directors for review and approval. However, due to other projects we are working on, we are not accepting manuscripts.

Please follow us at our Facebook page and this blog. If we have a call for submissions in the future, it will be posted on these sites.

      Sincerely,

  2. I was wondering if you had a short article on Broadside Press that you could send me for inclusion in my wiki, Penny’s Poetry Pages. My reason for asking is that many of the poets I’ve published, from Dudley Randall to Alice and Margaret Walker, have published with Broadside, and readers and students would benefit from knowing about the company.

Please note that, by the terms of the host, Wikia, publication on my cite is equivalent to licensing an article under Creative Commons, meaning that anyone is free to reprint the article provided they give appropriate credit. The same applies to photographs published on the site. With that proviso in mind, I would ask for any article(s) that you can send, as well as any photograph(s) that you think appropriate. Thank you for your consideration of this.

    George Dance.

    • Dear Mr. Dance,
Thank you for contacting us regarding including our press into your Wiki page. I will forward your message to the attention of our Board members.

      Happy Holidays,
      Aurora Harris, Secretary
